Northeast Italy

Region of Veneto The Veneto is among the foremost wine-producing regions in Italy, both for quality and quantity. The region counts over 20 DOC zones and a variety of sub-categories. Many of its wines, both dry and Spumante, are internationally known and appreciated. Three of the most well known DOCs are Bardolino, from the town with the same name and surrounding the shores of Garda Lake, Valpolicella, and Soave. Other noteworthy wines produced here are the excellent sparkling Prosecco and the Amarone, a rich and powerful red from the province of Verona. The importance of winemaking in this region is underscored by the creation in 1885 of the very first Italian school for vine growing and wine making or oenology. Just north of Verona in the hills of
Valpolicella is the Giuseppe Campagnola winery. The winery was founded in
1907 by Giusepppe Campagnola. His wife was Caterina Zardini who was a
driving force. The winery is now run by their son Luigi Campagnola and his
son Giuseppe Campagnola. The winemaker is Gaetano Pasqua. |

Amarone
is one of the GREAT
WINES of Italy.
Made Passito, the grapes are harvested, laid down on racks until January,
then they are crushed and fermented into wine. The result is a lush full
bodied wine. Amarone is only made in the province of Valpolicella in the
region of Veneto. Grapes; Rondella, Molinara, and Corvina. Campagnola
hand selects the grapes, aged in oak one year. A great value! This
Amarone is highly rated by Gambero Rosso and Slow Foods!
Absolutely fantastic for an Amarone...and under
$40 a bottle!
Classico,
Superiore, and Ripasso! and made from the same grapes as Amarone... Corvina,
Rondinella & Molinara. It is delicate and stylish with notes of tobacco and
fruit. It has good tannins and a flavorful finish. Slow Food,
due bicchieri. a great buy! Other Valpolicellas that are Classico,
Superiore and Ripasso are much more! 
Vino Frizzante
, a white wine from the Prosecco grapes, very popular in Italy. Fruity dry,
great for making Bellini's . Start with peach fruit juice and add Prosecco.
Very refreshing. If you like a sparkling wine that is not too dry, you
should try Prosecco! This one is great!
Classico &
Superiore, LeBine's Selection of the best Soave DOC Classico from single
vineyards of Monte Foscarino, sunny hill side vineyards. The White
grapes Garganega and Trebbiano of Soave, dry Fruity with all the intense and
inviting aromas of ripe yellow grapes, elegant with a long flavor on the
palate. 2006 is the best Soave!
